"Drums Please" #1
"Summa, summa, summa tiiiime, summatime!"
The latest in my Canadian Seasons Collection is called “Drums Please!” - my homage to one of my ALL time favourite songs - “Summertime” by Fresh Prince & DJ Jazzy Jeff.
And while it’s not a Canadian song, I’m not sure there’s another song that better sums up the joy Canadians feel when summer is REALLY here.
Released in 1990, it perfectly captures that AMAZING feeling when you’re 13 years old, discovering some real freedom with your best friends, and summer has officially arrived in Canada.
It’s 40 degrees in the day, and 25 degrees when the sun sets at almost 10PM. Canada Day Celebrations in Ottawa, pool parties, bonfires, drive in movie theatres and outdoor music festivals and concerts - WHAT ISN’T AMAZING about summer and how does that song not instantly take you to that time of year?!
This print taken on a balmy summer day this past July (2021) on a day so hot the balloons actually burst after being in the sun for a while.
I love how these vibrant images even look hot - You can feel the summertime humidity!
I hope these latest in my Canadian Seasons series help you capture that feeling all year round!
